On Day 2 of the conference, Dr. Satya Sundar Sethy who is an Associate Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai, India, conducted a workshop on the Indian Philosophy in Research. This workshop was carried out under the Erasmus+ CBHE Project on Teacher Training with specialisation on life and information technology skills (also known in brief as 21st Teach Skills project or 21TS).
The Nyaya School focusses on logic and epistemology and has a universal appeal and relevance across multiple disciplines. By learning about the Nyaya School and practicing its principles, an individual can develop and improve logic and reasoning, critical thinking skills, argumentation and debating skills. The Nyaya school presents a framework to approach and deal with complex real-world problems. The principles of this school provide a deeper contextual understanding of Indian philosophical traditions of logic and can be compared with contemporary western philosophies. Nyaya school also encourages consideration of ethical dimensions in decision making process. Learning of non-western philosophies such as that of Nyaya School will make education more inclusive and provide diverse perspectives.
